The weekend ends…

Last night (after sitting on the couch and crying over watching "My Girl") I ended up going to meet some friends at an EXTREMELY loud piano bar. It really was too bad that the music was so loud - not only did I only get to share about 5 words with my friends, but the music was just too loud to enjoy. When the band finally took a five-minute break, I was so relieved! The beers were quite large for $5! (I only drank one of these).

Today I got up fairly early (yay!) and made some apple-carrot-bran muffins for breakfast. Katie & I ran a couple of errands and then watched the gold medal hockey game - so intense! I opted out of greasy bar food, and decided to just make my lunch at home. I had a swiss cheese sandwich, heavy on the spinach, as well as celery with PB and clementines. I also snacked on a few chips & salsa during overtime.

One of my least favorite things to do is pack my lunch. I like bringing my lunch to work, it just seems to take me forever to pack! I suppose it doesn't help that I also pack my breakfast, 2 snacks, and coffee. You'd think I'd be used to it by now, but I still dread it every night. While I was making lunch today, I decided to prep an entire bunch of celery for easy packing/snacking during the week. I like to de-string my celery with a vegetable peeler and then store it in a bowl of water to keep it crisp. (Hi, Stella!)

After the hockey game I went on a 2.5 - 3 mile run. It was very slow because there are still a lot of sidewalks that haven't been cleared. It got fairly warm today (above freezing) so I was dealing with snow, slush, ice and puddles - lots of fun. :(  Also, my neighborhood is quite hilly, so I was a little worried about my knee. I just took it slow, walked when I thought it was dangerous to run, and was grateful to spend some time outside.

I didn't get an athletic swimsuit today like I had hoped, but I will still keep it on my list of something to do this week. I would like to start swimming a little at the gym. I'm afraid I'll try to come back to running too quickly, and hopefully incorporating some other gym workouts will keep me entertained.

Goodnight! (The last one of February - yikes!)
