Leading The Good Life

Sixer!

Omaha is a very Catholic city. Since it is now Lent, there are fish-fries all over the place on Friday nights. My good friend, Laura, loves to visit her old grade school during fish-fry season. Since this particular school/church also serves mac 'n cheese, amongst other non-fish-non-meat items, I was happy to go with her. Also with us were Katie, Laura's mom, and 2 of Laura's aunts, so it was a fun, family affair (even though it was not my family)! The lighting was horrible (we all looked like we were bruised!) so I didn't even try to photograph the mac 'n cheese, side of coleslaw, and 1/2 a beer that I had for dinner. After we closed the place down, we walked across the street to Laura's aunt's house for more beer, laughs, Grammar Rock, and what turned out to be a huge mess in the kitchen! I had a glass of this deliciousness:

Kate, Laura, & myself (before we spilled cake batter all over the oven!)

Hi Enzo! (Laura's aunt's dog...he's named after the baker in The Godfather!)

This morning I made myself an egg & cheese on toast, yogurt with sliced banana, and coffee for breakfast. This is my favorite mug - it has pears on it and holds a lot of coffee. :)

After breakfast, I caught up on some blogs and snuggled with Stella on the couch. Before I knew it, it was nearly 11:00! I turned off the TV (really, how many times does one need to watch Mean Girls?!) and got ready for a run. I was a little nervous because I was going to try to tackle 6 miles for the first time since my injury. It went great! I felt my knee get a little tight during the run, but it wasn't actually painful. When I came home, I iced it while I ate a filling lunch. I had a Quorn cutlet (this time made in the microwave - the oven is much better!!) with leftover black bean/corn/tomato saute on the side.

I also enjoyed a large green monster, made with banana, spinach, almond milk, and flax.

Unfortunately, my knee is feeling sore. :( I'm going to ice it again and avoid stairs. I'll also do some more stretching and probably take it easy tomorrow.

Tonight we are going out to celebrate Laura's birthday. We're having dinner at an Asian-fusion restaurant - yum!
