A Sunny Saturday Morning
Last night we went to dinner at another local favorite, Dario's.
This place is located in an area of town called Dundee, which is actually really near our house (less than a mile away)! Many of the other places I've reviewed are located in Dundee (Mark's, eCreamery, Amsterdam Falafel and Kabob,). (On a side note, maybe I should get a job as a restaurant reviewer in Omaha!)
Dario's is a French-Belgian brasserie. It's not great for vegetarian offerings, but the beer selection is so good that I forgive it! Last night I ordered a Troubadour to start. It's nickname amongst the staff is the 'Stevie Nicks' because it is blonde and tart.
Look at all them bubbles!
I ordered the socca coprese for a light dinner.
This was a chickpea flour pancake topped with tomato, mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. It was pretty good...but it will be even better with summer tomatoes! The chickpea flour pancake reminded me of a corn/griddle cake. It wasn't super filling, which I was actually quite happy about because I was in the mood for dessert.
I ordered the chocolate mousse with real whipped cream. Mmmmmmm, mmmmmmm, mmmmmmmm. (Sorry for the blurry picture.)
I'm not usually a chocolate person, but when it happens it happens in the form of mousse. I love how it's bitter and rich at the same time! I shared this goblet with Katie and Laura, but we couldn't finish it. So rich!!
This morning we got to sleep in!! I am always excited about a morning that doesn't involve an alarm clock. I ended up waking up reasonably early, but just hung out in bed reading and dozing until Katie was ready to get up. I snacked on a few slices of pear with peanut butter when I finally got moving.
Somehow my whole family was available for lunch (minus my brother Pat, who lives in Virginia - miss you Pat!!), so Katie and I met them at a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican favorite, Nettie's. My dad ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table, so I had some chips with salsa, guacamole, and bean dip. (this plate x2 or 3)
I was pretty full after the chips, so my nephew and I decided to split something for our 'entrée'. Luckily both of us were eying the pea and potato enchilada (a favorite)!
It ended up being the perfect portion. It's so easy to go overboard in restaurants!
It's hard to get us all in one picture, but here is my family at lunch. This is my parents, my 2 sisters, 1 of my brothers (I have 2), my 3 nephews, my brother-in-law, and Katie! Plus a whole bunch of Mexican food.
After lunch, I was feeling a little sleepy. I think it was a combination of a full tummy, a warm sunny day, and no caffeine. We decided to pick up some iced coffees on our way home! I enjoyed mine on the back porch while playing ball with Stella in the yard and admiring our blooming trees.
Ok folks, so much more happened today, but I'm going to have to wrap it up here. I have my first group run tomorrow morning, so I've got to get some shut-eye! I'll fill you in on replacing my bike tire and Earth Day tomorrow. Goodnight!

Thanks! I have never really learned anything about photography, but just looking at other blogs and getting tips from other bloggers has sparked an interest. I just can’t get over how colorful everything is in the Spring and the sun is shining!
