Windy Wednesday
Hello from the blustery Midwest!
Did you know that Nebraska is rankedĀ 6th for wind power potential in the US but only ranks 24th in power being produced?! (source) Nebraska, we need to pick it up! It really is a shame to think of all of the clean energy we could be harnessing/producing that we are missing out on. Have you ever driven through Nebraska? There's a whole lot of farm land just begging to have windmills built on it. It really makes me mad when people say windmills shouldn't be put up because they are 'an eyesore'. Are you kidding me with that?! I love windmills. I even love the way they look. I wish I had a windmill of my very own...
However, really windy days make for really difficult runs! I met up with the running club tonight for a nice 5-miler. We chose to run into the wind first, so we could have it at our backs as we finished. The first couple of miles were hard! My stomach was hurting and then my left shin started hurting! There is a water fountain at the turn-around point, so I got a drink and took a moment to stretch. I think it really helped because I felt fine on the way back. In fact, I was able to bump up my speed for the last mile and shave over a minute off of the pace I held for the first 4 miles! Sometimes I really need to push myself out of my comfort zone. I wonder how long I could have kept that pace up?...
Before I left for the running clinic, I fueled up with a dinner similar to the one I had on Sunday - a scramble of one egg, one egg white, a MorningStar Farms sausage patty, a Laughing Cow cheese wedge, and some spinach. I also had 2 pieces of toast - one with butter and the other with (butter and) jelly.
I snacked on an apple this afternoon, at my desk.
For lunch, I had a Swiss, spinach, and honey mustard sandwich, corn, and baked beans (leftover from last night's dinner).
And breakfast was yogurt with cereal (all the broken pieces left at the bottom of the Kashi Autumn Harvest bag), the other half of my juice from yesterday, and coffee.
Now I'm off to finish my frozen yogurt and pack up food for tomorrow!
