Weekend Wrap Up
Just thought I'd do a quick post, wrapping up my weekend. How is it nearly Tuesday already?!
After bike riding on Saturday, I decided to take a nap. It was glorious! I woke up and made myself a quick dinner of flatbread and salad. The flatbread was topped with Romano cheese, tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. And the salad was mixed greens, spinach, strawberries, cashews and a Vidalia onion dressing. I accidentally poured too much dressing, so I kept eating a few bites and adding more lettuce!
Saturday night, my sisters and I went to see my brother's band play. He has been playing guitar since high school and has been working hard getting his second band going. They have a studio recorded CD and several shows in the upcoming months!
This particular show was held in a venue that also houses a skate shop. I found this poster hilarious - I want it!
After the show, I came home and had some fro-yo before hitting the hay.
Sunday morning, I got up early to meet up with the running club. Before I left the house, I had an English muffin with peanut butter and a banana.
It was a gorgeous morning, and we had lovely scenery while running around a lake. I had planned to run 8 miles, but when we got back to the parking lot, I'd only gone 7. I continued on with another runner to get in that last mile. We were chatting away and before I knew it I was at 9 miles...and still 2 miles from my car! I was feeling great, so I kept chugging along with him and ended up just shy of 12 miles. Woohoo! I know I should be careful about doing too much too soon, but we didn't push the pace and my knee felt fine the entire time. My foot was a little sore later in the day, but it's back to normal now. I didn't realize until I completed the run that I had so much doubt about what I'd be able to do. I was just so elated to feel like my old running self again!
My breakfast and a few sport beans held me over during my run, but about 2 minutes into the 20 minute drive home I realized I needed food NOW. I stopped at a gas station for some fuel...as in food, not gas.
And I picked up these ridiculous things for Katie to share with her buddies on the golf course later in the afternoon (I think they were a hit!)
(If you can't read it, they are 'Smoky Bacon' peanuts.)
After a hot shower, I hung out on the porch with Stella for a little while.
(She's a sunshine girl. She'd like to relocate to California!)
For lunch, I knew I'd need something really filling. Chipotle sounded perfect, and it did not disappoint! I got a vegetarian burrito bowl with the fajita peppers & onions, corn & mild salsas, lettuce, and guacamole. I opted not to get the cheese or sour cream, and I didn't really miss them (probably because there was a LOT of guac!) I also had a tasty grapefruit soda.
I ate outside on the patio to enjoy these bright blue skies! (If you squint, all of the cars and buildings disappear.
)
We went to Katie's parents' house for dinner, but I didn't end up taking any pictures. We took a quick walk before dessert, but then it started to lightning and sprinkle. Back to the house for apple crumble and ice cream!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend, too! I could really get used to this weather!
