Bubbles!
Yesterday morning I got up early for my Sunday morning group run. Unfortunately when I went to make my pre-run toast, I found that my bread was moldy! I ended up grabbing a crumpet and a single serving packet of peanut butter to scarf on my way out the door.
I set out for 10 miles around Lake Zorinsky with Amanda. Lake Z has two loops, one that is about 3 miles and one that is 4 miles, so it's pretty easy to mix and match to get to your desired mileage. We ran at a pretty leisurely pace of about 10:30 min miles. I'm struggling between wanting to run faster and passing the time by chatting. At some point I'll want to increase my pace, but I think for now just getting my miles logged is something to be proud of!
When I got home, I ate some cottage cheese for a refueling snack that contained both protein and fat. Then I showered and headed out to run a few errands and grab some lunch. I was craving veggies and needed something fast, so I went to Jason's Deli, which has an awesome salad bar. I had a huge salad with spinach, peppers, tomatoes, sprouts, mushrooms, cucumbers, peas, beans, a hard-boiled egg, cheese, and sunflower seeds. I also got a cup of corn chowder (yay for vegetarian soup!) and had some cottage cheese and apple slices for "dessert."
Yesterday evening was spent celebrating my nephew's 3rd birthday! My sister threw a camping themed party, and it was a lot of fun! She even got me some veggie dogs to be grilled alongside the other hotdogs - thanks Em! I also had chips and strawberries. And, of course, some cake and ice cream!
Eli was so funny...he came up to the table with the cake on it and said, "I just want a little more cake" before reaching up and grabbing a fistful of frosting! All I could do was laugh...hey, it was his birthday!
Turning 3 looks like a lot of fun. Eli got tons of fun bubble toys to play with! I think the giant bubble maker was the biggest hit (I know it was my favorite!)
When I got home, I had plans to veg out on the couch and watch a movie, but putting away the groceries, packing my lunch, and doing laundry zapped the rest of my energy. I headed to bed early, and it felt great! I really should do that more often. Speaking of which, I hear my pillow calling!
