Negative Splits, Baby!
Hi all! Thank you so much for the kind words about my half marathon! It was a hard race, but I'm proud of my accomplishment. And it's great to have so many people behind me!
On that note, I had an awesome training run yesterday! I met up with the running club for a 5 miler at 7:00PM. The sun was still out, it was probably about 70F and humid, but it felt great compared to Sunday.
I decided from the get-go that I wanted to push my pace a little bit, and completed the 1st mile in 9:19. As I began the 2nd mile, I aimed to do it a little faster than the 1st. Then I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if I run each mile faster than the last?!" That was it - I was on a mission for negative splits. I popped in my headphones, broke away from the pack, and zeroed in on my goal.
I was most worried about mile 4 because I knew I'd be tired, but I couldn't give it my all because mile 5 was still to come. I probably looked at my Garmin 15 times during that mile to make sure I kept on track.
Garmin's are such great motivators!
I pushed hard, felt strong, and met my goal!
- Mile 1 - 9:19
- Mile 2 - 9:17
- Mile 3 - 9:08
- Mile 4 - 8:43
- Mile 5 - 8:36
It was such a satisfying run...isn't that the best?!
Before my run I had a quick dinner of a hummus, tomato, & spinach sandwich, a sweet pepper, and some cottage cheese.
And after my run I had about 20 pistachios and a strawberry popsicle! It's totally summertime.
I haven't been keeping up with posting my meals this week, but I'd like to show you what I've been having for dinner lately! I was inspired by 2 recent Costco purchases:
Do you see where this is going? Yep, I totally stuffed those sweet peppers with feta cheese!
Then I broiled those babies for 10 minutes (5 minutes, flip, 5 minutes)...
..and put them atop a bed of greens drizzled with a dressing made out of these:
(I'd say about a tsp each of the mustard, honey, & vinegar, and then s&p to taste)
The first night I had it with a strawberry banana Green Monster on the side.
The second night I had it with an over-easy egg on top.
Talk about a fancy pants spinach salad!
And now I'm gonna try to read in bed for 15 minutes before I pass out. G'night!
