Oh, Happy Day!
Guess what I did today?!
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
I RAN 5 MILES!! Yaaaaaayyyy!
This is a big deal for me. After encountering severe knee pain during the last 5 miles of my marathon, I was worried this injury would sideline me for a long time. A similar thing happened during my marathon last year and it took me 5 months to get back to running five miles.
Since the marathon, I have been taking lots of long walks, going to yoga, and stretching and foam rolling regularly. I will probably still go see a specialist to make sure I'm doing everything I can to get myself healthy, but this run was very encouraging.
It wasn't my fastest run, but check out these splits!
- Mile 1 - 10:43
- Mile 2 - 10:49
- Mile 3 - 10:36
- Mile 4 - 10:09
- Mile 5 - 9:37
I was one happy girl.
I celebrated with a tea, and then hopped across the street for a tough 60 minute yoga class. My legs were shaking by the end!
I came home, mixed up a quick batch of vegan banana nut mini-muffins, and showered while they baked.
I also made scrambled eggs with spinach, tomato, and feta. Mmmmmm!
Aren't Sundays the best?!

Way to go on the run! So glad you were able to bounce back so quickly this time.
Those muffins are so cute – and they look so tasty:)

Thanks! I’m hoping to go on a little run tomorrow. I think yoga will be my friend this winter.
