Halloween Party!

Last night my good friends Ryan & Celi threw an awesome costume party! I was really excited to sport my homemade pea pod costume. :)

I like to make my own costumes. Everything at the stores seems...well...sleezy. And they're really expensive! With a little creativity and a trip to Goodwill, my pea pod cost $13.50.

  • $3.50 for the dark green 'tunic' (Can you believe I found something already shaped like a pea pod?! I think it was part of a turtle costume...?)
  • $1.00 for green scrub pants
  • $1.00 for a green t-shirt (used for the peas)
  • $8.00 for 2 nerf balls (cut in half & covered with green t-shirt material to make the peas)

It didn't take very long to make, either!

Katie had to work, otherwise I would have made her a carrot costume so we could be 'Peas and Carrots.' :) I like couples costumes. Last year we were S'mores! I was a graham + chocolate and she was a graham + marshmallow. In college, my roommate had an awesome cow costume, so I dressed as the moon and we went at 'The Cow Jumps Over the Moon.' Love it!

We played some fun games at the party. Like...Bobbing for Liquor Bottles!

I swear he got his shoulders in there!

For another game, I had to face one of my biggest fears...

...popping balloons! I hate, hate, hate popping balloons. I don't know if it's the anticipation or the loudness or what, but I hate it. Kinda like opening Champagne - ack! However, these balloons were like fortune cookies. Each contained your 'fate', so you had to pop it to see what you got. I decided to suck it up and face my fear, but it wasn't easy! I think I tried sitting on that thing like 4 times without it popping. Finally, I just stomped on it and retrieved my fate!

Uh oh. What could this mean? Ryan presented me with my 'poison.'

Cinnamon whiskey?! I wasn't sure what to expect, but decided to take it like a champ. Whoa, spicy! Luckily it didn't taste like whiskey (yuck), but rather like those red hots candies. There was definitely a burn!

We also played a little Tippy Cup.

And then we headed inside to end the night with a dance party. :)

Thanks for a great party, R & C!!

  1. Really, really great costume, Lizz!! So cute and creative! And your college roommate did, in fact, wear her awesome cow costume last night for the millionth year in a row. I need a new costume.
