A Day With the Boys
Yesterday I got the pleasure of hanging out with 2 of my nephews. Since I was watching them for most of the day, I thought it'd be fun to take a little road trip to Lincoln (about an hour away) to visit Katie at the fire station.
But first we had to bake some cookies!
I had a bunch of leftover Halloween candy that I wanted to get rid of, so I decided to incorporate it in some treats for the firefighters. We started with pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough, and then put a piece of Snickers or Milky Way inside before baking.
They were a big hit! And since we used pre-made dough, they were super simple.
Eli helped with the 'quality control'.
We were lucky that the fire station was not busy when we arrived, so Katie and the other fire fighters had time to show us around. Of course the fire truck and ambulance were the main attractions...I was even excited to check them out!
Of course, jumping is fun, too.
I liked when they tried on all of the gear!
And then, perhaps the most exciting thing of all....a water fountain. (?? Kids are weird.
)
After about 15 drinks from the fountain, we bid farewell to the fire fighters and headed to the Children's Museum. I had heard from several people that Lincoln's Children's Museum was amazing, and it did not disappoint.
The bottom level had tons of stuff to climb on/in, as well as a giant stage and tons of costumes for the kids to wear. They even had scenery options and a light/sound booth! There was a TV displaying what was happening on stage, and the kids got a kick out of watching themselves on the big screen.
The second level was set up like a little town. There was a pizza shop, a hospital, a vet, a fire station, a post office, a farm, a grocery store, a football stadium, etc. It was so cool! I don't have many pictures of it because I was too busy playing.
We didn't even make it to the 3rd floor! On out way out, we stopped by the water station.
We had a LOT of fun!
