Mimi Chica

I have two sisters (as well as two brothers). We girls are each 4.5 years apart in age and 5 years apart in school. It kind of sounds like a lot, but it worked well for us! We've always been really close and are truly the best of friends.  And I lucked out because I have both an older sister and a younger sister!

This week we celebrated my younger sister's birthday. Her name is Emily, but I oftentimes refer to her as Mimi, which is what our youngest brother called her when he was first learning to talk. (I was called Bah-Bah, so I'm kinda glad that didn't stick! ;) )

On Thursday, my sisters, Kate, some of Emily's friends, and I met for drinks and sushi at Baby Blue. Blue has a great menu, a fantastic Happy Hour, and a cool atmosphere.

We started Em off with a little cocktail. ;)

Luckily, she had some help with the "fish bowl".

Katie and my sister got a round of sake bombs going. I just played photo-documenter, since that's how I roll.

Em dominated in chugging. I guess she is technically still in college...but only a few more weeks til graduation!

Then they brought out the food! My crunchy cabbage roll is the second from the left. It's filled with spicy tofu and wrapped with the usual rice & nori, as well as a cabbage leaf before it is tempura battered and fried. Yum! (By the way, isn't it awesome how they separated the vegetarian roll from the others by placing it between a plate and a row of curly beet strings?!)

I also got some grilled baby corn with spicy aioli, but I forgot to take a picture before I gobbled it up.

At one point in the night, we all started giggling at something on the other side of the room. It was directly behind Katie so she couldn't see what was going on. She didn't want to look obvious by turning around, so she sneakily snapped this photo. :)

WTH?! We were just hoping it was NOT a bachelorette party... ;)

I kept taking pictures of Kate while she was eating. I think she started getting a little annoyed, but seriously, isn't she so darn cute?!

*mwah* xoxo

Last night, we had a birthday dinner with the rest of the family. Em chose gourmet mac 'n cheese, grilled salmon, and grilled asparagus for her special meal. We were all VERY pleased. These are some of my parents' specialties!

Clementines were a tasty dessert...but we supplemented them with a bit of cake. Dairy Queen Oreo Blizzard ice cream cake, that is!

Happy Birthday, Mimi Chica!

After dinner, we watched the (horrible, horrible) Husker football game. You can tell it was getting a bit boring/frustrating because we kind of stopped paying attention.

You can also tell we're a Mac family. ;)

But it's still always fun to hang out with the fam. We really like to play games...and usually do something fun during halftime.

My Mom and brother were both doing quizzes on Sporcle. Have you visited that site?! Trivia questions on every topic imaginable. Movies, music, history, geography, celebrities' mug shots, you name it! I just clicked on the site and saw quizzes for "Dum Dum Pop Flavors", "Potter Characters by Spellcasting", and "Country Names in Turkish". (Sorry Mine, I've probably just doomed your productivity!)

Sometimes we end up playing absurd games to entertain ourselves.

Like "Chubby Bunny"

Or "Face the Cookie"

And other times we'll go outside and toss a football, baseball, or frisbee.

But no matter what, we always have a ton of fun!
