Tree-Gettin’
On Saturday, Kate and I went out to a tree farm to go get our Christmas tree. We seem to alternate between purchasing a tree from a farm vs a store, but we ALWAYS get a real tree. (I may even write this stipulation into our wedding vows.)
The weather didn't seem too bad at our house, but once we got out where the wind was blowing, it was cold!
We looked a bit through the first field, but it was slim-pickings. We warmed up inside with hot cocoa and cider, and then took a hay rack ride over to the other field.
Unfortunately, the choices here were even worse. But at least we got to check out the Clydesdales!
Back to first field we went! After looking a bit closer (and accepting the fact that we were going to have to get a long-needled tree if we didn't want it to look bare) we finally made a choice. Kate signaled the cutter, and we were outta there!
Victorious!
We celebrated with hot dogs.
There is a place here in Omaha called Chicago Dawg House that serves a really, really good veggie dog. And they have lots of toppings to choose from. I like my hot dogs like I like my hamburgers: with ketchup, mustard, lettuce, and pickle. And meat-free.
Then we got our tree home and put it up. So far we've got it into the stand and out of the netting.
No decorations on it yet, but soon. I'd say the hard part is over!
Have you gotten a tree yet? Do you go for real or artificial trees?

Had the most fun taking Eli to pick out our tree! I know I probably pay double, but I so enjoy going to Mulhall’s. Eli got to participate in a scavenger hunt; eat cookies; play a few games; see live reindeer; and get his picture taken umpteen times by mom and grandma. Tree was given a fresh cut, bagged & tied up on top of the van for us. Money well spent!

I purchased my Christmas tree on Sunday from the stand set up in front of the Rite Aid, a block away from my apartment (oh New York). I was so sick, feeling crappy, and it was below freezing but I hauled it home on my shoulder, set it up and decorated it that night. Now it’s just a matter of making sure Oscar doesn’t start nibbling on the low branches like he did last year…

Ah, New York!! I saw you posted the other day that you think you decorated your tree exactly as you did last year. That does not surprise me AT ALL!
