Yesterday my family got together for a fun little outing. First, we met at the Lucky Bucket Brewing Co. for a tour of the brewery. I've been wanting to do this ever since we went to the 'Science of Beer' presentation nearly a year ago!

Lucky Bucket is a local company that makes really good beer. The tour was very informative and interesting. I love seeing "behind the scenes" operations!

Of course, we got a few beers to sample during the tour.

We also got to see the Solas distillery and sampled their Joss vodka, which is very good. They are also working on their Chava rum and aging both whiskey and brandy. It's kind of exciting that this is all is happening right in my hometown!

After the tour, we met up with the rest of my family for lunch at a nearby Cuban restaurant. We were excited about their mojito menu.

My sister and I both wanted to try the guava and the coconut, so we got one of each and split them. They were both tasty!

There weren't many veggie options on the menu, but I munched on some fried plantains and taro fritters with Swiss cheese.

Unfortunately, the food was merely okay. Most of it was really greasy. And the service was pretty slow.

Between beer at the brewery, vodka at the distillery, a mojito at the restaurant, not much for lunch, and uber-lightweighted-ness, I was definitely ready for a nap when we got home! Luckily, the puppies were ready for a nap, too. :)

Look out for a special post later tonight!
