Dixie Quicks

A group of my friends and I have been meeting up for breakfast on Sundays. It's a fun and low-key way to hang out on the weekends. And it gets me out of bed at a decent hour.

We have been trying different places around town, and so far we've hit up:

• 11 Worth Cafe
• Farmhouse Cafe
• Louie M's Burger Lust
• Bailey's
• Dixie Quicks

This morning was the first time I'd ever been to Dixie Quicks, and I was quite impressed! Even having just walked through the door, I was kicking myself for not having visited sooner. It is charming and hip, delicious and unique. The staff was very accommodating, even though we hadn't made a reservation (which I highly recommend doing!). And the atmosphere was cool yet casual.

The restaurant appears to be 3 small, adjoining spaces. One end is a restaurant, the other is an art gallery, and the room in the middle is a combo. That's where we sat.

The menu is just one large chalk board, so everyone huddled around to read it. Several things jumped out at me, but I was sold on the apple and brie omelet when I found out it came with a side of grits - my fave!

There was some regular breakfast fare, like scrambles and Eggs Benedict, with gourmet twists. But the more unusual items seemed to draw the most attention. Oatmeal and ice cream, anyone? Cactus scramble? Sexual chocolate French toast? (I kid you not.)

Everyone's food was delicious, AND the coffee was good! It's amazing how hard it is to find good coffee and good breakfast at the same place, am I right?!

All in all, it was a wonderful breakfast. I think it has been my favorite thus far. I will definitely be back!
