Tank 7

The other night, Kate and I decided to split this guy:

Tank 7 is a lovely, bright and refreshing beer made by Boulevard. From their website/label: "Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish."

However, it comes corked. I tell you this because I am afraid of corks. Or rather, I'm afraid of things that "pop" (like balloons and Champagne and cardboard tubes of biscuits...seriously.)

Initially, I asked Kate to do it. But when she looked at me like "Really? Why can't you do it?" I realized that I could do it. So in the spirit of "Do one thing every day that scares you", I took on the challenge of opening the Tank 7.

Kate took on the challenge of coaching me through it and photographing.

At first I was afraid. I was petrified ;) ...but it ended up being really difficult! I had to try several different methods:

Bare Handed

Hand Towel

Jar Opener

Between the Knees

After several painful minutes, I had bright red knuckles and delicious, bubbly beer.

And by the end, I was no longer fearful. I just wanted my blasted beer. Full circle, baby!

p.s. If this post sounded dirty to you, get your head out of the gutter! And high-five. ;)
