Nebraska Stampede

I've mentioned that Kate plays football, but have I given you the details? She plays for the Nebraska Stampede, which is part of the Women's Football Alliance - a professional football league. She plays first string running back and second string defensive back.

(Yeah, that is someone else's blood on her jersey...)

They had their first game on Saturday, and we were determined to pack the stands!

(Kate's cheering section :) )

Before the game, we met up at our friends' house for a little tailgate. Sean and Anna made us chili...including a special vegetarian version for me!

After dinner, we got busy making signs.

(I'm pretty proud of my fence...you know, for D-Fence)

Signs in action (she's #8):

Sean's sign was a big hit with the team.

Get it?? :)

Kate was named a captain for the game, which meant she went out on the field for the coin toss. (Can you tell I'm proud?!)

The Nebraska Stampede smashed the Topeka Mudcats with a 52-0 win. Kate had some big plays, including a 37 yd kick return, a tackle, and an interception!!

Great game, ladies!
