On the Road Again
So, after going to Lincoln for my 10K on Saturday and making the hour drive back home, guess what I did? Hopped back into the car to drive to Kansas City. You know, the same 3 hour drive that I made last weekend for the Brew to Brew relay race.
Apparently I can't enough road tripping lately.
This time I was going to KC to watch Kate's football game. The team bus left that morning, so I was, yet again, making the trip alone. I was worried about getting bored, so I got myself a few treats.
Aviators. Do I look tough?
No?
Candy
And a book on tape. Or...book on disc?
I wasn't sure if the book would keep me interested or make me sleepy, but it ended up working well! The book was really interesting. I only wish I could have taken some notes while I was listening (bad idea while driving.)
Caitlin turned me onto the idea of listening to books on road trips. You can rent all sorts of books from The Cracker Barrel for $3.49 per week. You have to put down a $30 deposit, but you get it back when you return the discs...at any Cracker Barrel location!
Once I arrived, I grabbed some dinner at a Mexican restaurant near the stadium.
It was an order-at-the-counter/cafeteria style place with lots of options. The food was tasty, and my ticket was less then $10 - including a beer!
But best of all, there were complimentary sopapillas along with the standard complimentary chips and salsa! They were warm, chewy, and sugary. I immediately popped one into my mouth. Yum!
The football game was very close, and I was a ball of nerves at the end. Unfortunately, The Stampede lost by just 2 points, with a final score of 12 to 14. At least it was a beautiful day for football!
I'm not sure what next weekend will hold, but I can almost guarantee there will be no road trips. Home sweet home is sounding great!
