Low Key Friday
I had a surprisingly awesome run last night. Kate had football practice, so I joined her at the park to log some miles. It was drizzling and windy, so I set off thinking I'd run 5 or 6 miles, depending on how I felt. Well, apparently I felt great because I ended up clocking 10 miles at an 8:48 pace - totally better than I expected!
I think this happened because I started worrying that I'm not ready for my May 1st half marathon. My training has seemed a bit sporadic, and it's been awhile since I've done a long race. I think I pushed myself to hit that 10 mile mark just to get myself in a better head space for the race. Now that I know I can do it, I can focus my energy on other things...like trying to make it not hurt so badly.
Kate is working tonight, so I was glad my friend Sean called to see if I'd like to join them for dinner at Thai Pepper - yum!
I got a fried tofu starter...which was just, well, fried tofu. Kinda strange.
I ended up mixing the tofu into my entree, basil fried rice with vegetables. Quite tasty!
And now I'm back home with the pups. Today was our first really grey and rainy spring day of the year.
I'm totally ok with it...especially since it's Friday. Nights like tonight were made for snuggling up in bed with a good book and a cup of tea.
(Yes, I'm still reading Wuthering Heights.) I really like it, I just can't find the time for it. But look, I'm almost finished.
Anyway, I hear the wind whistling outside. You know what that means...snuggle time!

I don’t know how anyone can run 10 miles, let alone 26! I can barely walk 3 at a brisk rate!!! Gotta get my knees fixed!
