Wedding Wednesday – Invitations
It seems that Katie and I have hit that time in our lives where we get to attend lots of weddings! Last summer we were invited to 6, and we've already been invited to 3 more this year. It's fun to see the different styles that people choose, and I've gotten so many good ideas for our own wedding.
Something fun is checking out the variety of invitations that we receive. Some are homemade, some are super fancy, some have personalized designs, and some are cute Etsy finds.
I think it's neat that each is like a little snapshot or preview of what the wedding will be like.
I can't imagine what sifting through all of the design possibilities would do to me. I'm the type of person that likes to exhaust all options before making a decision...which would be virtually impossible in this case. Lucky for us, our good friend, Anne, has offered to design our invitations for us as a wedding gift!!! Not only does this make me happy because it will cut down the number of decisions we'll have to make, but also because Anne is awesome. She works in graphic design/advertising in New York, she has incredible taste, she's not afraid to be funny, she's meticulous with her work, and she knows us!
The three of us went to high school together, but I met Anne before that...we were duet partners in piano when we were younger.
In high school, we were paired up again as lab partners in Honors Chemistry. Both of us had a hard time with the exams, but we knocked the labs out of the park. We actually got quite the reputation from our strict Chem teacher! Maybe all those years practicing piano gave us deft little fingers that were perfect for precise pipeting.
I'm excited to see what she can do for us. I'm sure it will be great!

I’m glad you can recognize your wedding invitation! I’m not sure if Katie will be able to do that a year after our wedding…

No, I won’t be able. But that’s only because the pigeons are trained to fly back to their handler once the message is delivered, so there’s not even a chance I see them again anyway

i was honestly thinking about emailing invitations, or at least save the dates. i know we’ll need to do save the dates since people will need to make travel arrangements ahead of time. but we had a not-so-minor flop with the party invitation email. many people didn’t get them because it went to their spam. then we emailed again, and i felt like i was being pushy sending a second email to people who may have already gotten it, and just not had not gotten around to rsvp’ing yet. and now there are still some people who never rsvp’ed. and i can’t tell if they never got our email, or if they’re just not coming. but i’m hesitant to send another email.
i don’t know if this is relevant at all, but i guess i’d say don’t rely on email, in the year 2011! it’s pathetic…
