Wedding Wednesday – Fabric Crafts

Hi, all!

You might be wondering, "So what happened to all of that fabric you bought weeks ago?"

The answer: not much. Oh, but it has multiplied.

After taking some time to pout over the fact that Kate wasn't thoroughly stoked about my original selections, I knew I needed to reconsider. Getting Kate to actually go with me to the fabric store would be a worthless feat...we'd both be miserable. So I took what clues I could from Kate's reaction, honed all of the "don't take things so personally" mojo that I could muster, and trekked back to the fabric store with a fresh set of eyes. Here's what I let guide me:

  • In an earlier conversation, we both agreed that we liked charcoal grey and butter yellow with pops of color.
  • Kate mentioned being put off by how much mustard yellow I picked out the first time around, so I tried to look for less earthy tones.
  • Her original favorite was a bright coral, so I worked with that as I sifted through fabric.

I have to say, I like what I came up with for Round 2!

I especially like these 2 groups (what looks like red is closer to coral.)

Not that I'm giving up on Round 1 completely. ;)

So now the question is, what am I going to do with all of this fabric??

Here are some of the things I'm considering:

Not sure yet what we'll decide, but I'm definitely doing something. If only to justify the new sewing machine I just ordered! ;)

  1. fabric flower bouquets and centerpieces. also, you could make kate a pocket square and a handkerchief.

  2. what kind of sewing machine did you get? that’s fun! I am excited to see what you make. the fabric colors are pretty.

  3. i saw something on pinterest a week ago, but it was before i was allowing myself too much time on it (or an account and actual pinning) so i lost it but they had put these straps of colorful fabric on chair backs. it looks like so much work, but so cute at the same time.
