Wedding Wednesday – Wearing Rings
(Hi there! I am currently on my way to LA for Mine and Colin's wedding!! I am so excited. You can bet there will be plenty of pictures to share during next week's post.
)
Some people say to never take your wedding rings off - it's the best way to lose them. Surprisingly, Kate and I are not that way.
I don't like wearing my ring when it could get really dirty or is at a risk of being yanked off my hand. Although my ring is sized properly, the little prongs in the setting get snagged. Here are some times I do NOT wear my ring:
- in the shower
- while running or doing anything outside involving sunscreen (e.g. swimming)
- any time I may be taking gloves on & off (shoveling, gardening, running in the winter)
- cooking
- doing dishes
- when applying lotion
As you probably know, Kate is a firefighter and a football player. Taking gloves on and off in a hurry is a big concern for her in regards to losing her ring. She does NOT wear her ring while:
- working
- practicing or playing football
- showering
- doing yard work
It kinda sounds like we rarely wear our rings! But really, I think we have a good routine for donning and doffing them. You see, we have strategically placed little ceramic bowls around the house where we are most likely to remove our rings. If they are not on our fingers, they are in one of these little bowls. No frantically searcing pockets or seat cushions or sink drains.

Occassionally, I'll wear Kate's ring when I find it in a dish. It is too big for me, so I place it behind my ring to hold it in place. It's kind of like a wedding band (although, I'll probably choose something thinner.) I like the way they clink together.
I can't wait to see my ring shining the the California sun!
When do you take your rings off?

apparently i take mine off subconsciously *sometimes* when I go to do a procedure at work… then have a mini heart attack when its not on my finger. Really the only other time is while sleeping and showering. Insurance is a good thing.
