In Plane View
I was just flipping through the pics from my recent trip to LA and came across some from the airplane that I had forgotten about.
On my way home, I flew from Denver to Omaha at about 9:00pm. We flew through some storms, but then settled in above them so the ride was pretty smooth. Being a window seat kinda girl, I realized that you could see the storm as we flew above it. It was this thick mess of clouds with all sorts of lightning buzzing back and forth. It was so cool!!
I tried to get some pictures, but they don't really do it justice. However, I'll still share.
I absolutely love seeing things from an airplane. It's like a whole new perspective on the world! On our first trip out to LA, we flew over the Grand Canyon. Neither Katie nor I have ever seen it in person, so this was pretty incredible. We were peering out the window saying, "Is that it? Maybe it's that canyon over there..." And then it was like the Earth just opened up and there was a huge gaping hole staring up at us. No mistaking what we were looking at at that point! So amazing.
Flying into and out of New York never got old, even after living there for 5 years. I love being able to see Manhattan from above. Isn't it crazy how big Central Park is?! And flying into the city when it's all lit up at night still makes my stomach flip.
Oddly enough, I also like flying through rain. I never really think about it raining so high up in the sky. Just think, it could all evaporate before ever hitting the Earth. There's so much going on that we rarely see!
What's the coolest thing you've seen from an airplane?

Those pics are cool — I’ve never seen lightning from above the clouds! Coolest thing I’ve seen from a plane was the Aurora Borealis on our overnight flight to Scotland! I still really enjoy flying over Iowa in a plane, though, where it looks like a beautiful quilt pattern made of brown and green squares of corduroy and wavy tan pieces all brought together with long straight strips of gray! (Okay my description doesn’t do it justice — wish I could quilt).

Hey Sis! Nice pics. On the way home from Bahrain on my last deployment I saw the Great Pyramids while flying over Egypt. AMAZING!
Love you!
