Just the 2 of Us

Yesterday was a nice, quiet Saturday. We took our time getting up and then tag-teamed breakfast. I made juice for 2:

And Kate made egg and cheese sandwiches. Yum.

Love her.

We ran some errands and then came home for lunch and a quick workout. It was HOT outside, so we opted for indoor strength training. Tabata was a perfect fit - we could do it together even though we wanted to do different exercises.

Tabata workouts are a form of high-intensity interval training. You do sets of 20 second "sprints" followed by 10 second rests. During the "sprints", you do as many reps as you can. You do the same exercise 8 times in a row (so 4 minutes total).

Using an interval timer ap kept us on track. We each did 4 different exercises, so our workout was 16 minutes in length. I wanted to focus on arms, shoulders, and core, so I chose (reenactment photos):

One Arm Rows

Planks (Barley helped me out)

Tricep Dips

and Lateral Raises

(or as Katie calls them..."Jessica Biel Arms")

Someday. ;)

After that killer workout, we got ready and headed to our friends' wedding. We celebrated a wedding on July 9th of last year, too!

Somehow it doesn't happen often that we get an entire day to spend together. It was so great!
