Wedding Wednesday – The Suit

Man, Katie really came through for me this week! I promised you guys a good Wedding Wednesday post and, low and behold, I've got one. On a whim yesterday, Kate decided to start looking for her wedding attire. And just a few short hours after her search began, she had the goods in her hands.

We knew all along that Katie would not be wearing a dress at our wedding. (You can read more about it in this What Will We Wear? post.) We both thought a suit would look good, but we hadn't really talked about it much more than that. I personally thought a tux might seem too formal, and black might be too hot, but I was going to leave those decisions up to Kate. She's the one that suggested the idea of an ivory colored suit. I loved it!

However, Kate is too small for menswear and the wrong shape for lots of women's clothing, so we were worried this might be a tough search. Knowing that alterations were practically certain, we started tossing around the idea of getting something custom made. Since I got such a good deal on my dress, I thought we could spend a little extra on Kate's clothes.

But, luckily, we did not have to go that route. You see, Kate magically found exactly what she was looking for. In her size. Off the rack. At The Gap. ON CLEARANCE.

How much did she pay for the suit? You might want to sit down for this...$39!! TOTAL!!

A woman after my own heart. If we didn't already have plans to get married, I would have popped the question on the spot. :)

Closer to the wedding, Kate will decide if any alterations are needed. She had a great idea for adding a bit of color by putting some fun fabric on the inside of the cuffs. Then she could roll them up to show the fabric or leave them unfolded for seamless ivory.

(This is just an example. She hasn't chosen a fabric yet.)

And. AND. Look at how closely the color matches the fabric of my dress!

Seriously, find of the century. I'm so excited to see her in it!

  1. WOW!! You guys are golden! I’m so excited for you both! I’m waiting to see what size I’ll be closer to next June before looking for my dress. It’s always such an unknown.
