Hair “Do”

I'm lazy when it comes to doing my hair. Well, I also don't really know what to do. I'd like to get better at it. At least I have plenty of room for improvement!

My hair is pretty long (mid-back) and naturally wavy. I have some overgrown bangs that get pinned back most of the time. Here is my usual routine:

  • I shower before bed, since I exercise in the evenings. After I wash and condition my hair, I towel-dry it and comb through it to detangle.
  • Next, I spritz it all over with Frizz-Ease Dream Curl.
  • Then I tie it up in a tight bun (still wet) and pin my bangs back, as such.

  • Then I go to bed. Yup, I sleep with wet hair.
  • When I wake up, I take out the bun and bobby pin. My hair is still wet. I give it another little spritz with the curling spray and then top it with a teeny bit of hairspray.
  • Then I go to work and let it air dry. It only takes 15 minutes or so in this heat.

Here is what I end up with.

I think it's too frizzy to be those pretty, gentle waves, but not messy enough to be a funky, edgy look.

What do I do?!

Please don't say blow dry or flat iron. I outright refuse, unless it's a special occasion.

I noticed that I have been pinning lots of hair dos to my "style" Pinterest board. I really need to try some of these out! So much cuter than a plain pony tail.

Maybe this can be my Summer Pinterest Project!

Do you have any hair advice for me? Any great products you use for naturally wavy hair? Help!

  1. I use TIGI curlesque leave in conditioner and then some redken fresh curls mousse to make it curlier. I also use the TIGI foxy curls spray during the day for a pick up, you know, the one katie thinks smells like starburst.

  2. I’m currently growing my hair out & am struggling with the same thing – every day it’s either down ( boring), or in a “messy bun”. the problem I have is that my hair is very fine & totally straight. Absolutely no body at all! So I’m one of the lucky ones that has to blow dry it every morning.

Doesn’t the bun bother you when you sleep?

    • you know, the bobby pin holding my bangs back tends to bother me more than the bun! probably because i’m a side-sleeper.

you have to blow dry your hair every morning in FLORIDA?!?! oy vey!

  3. I’m no help. I wear it up almost every day. It’s too hot and the baby likes to pull it. If you wanted to curl it you could let it air dry overnight (not in a bun, so it’s dry in the morning) and add a few curls with a curling iron in the morning for a wavy/beach look.
