Pounding the Pavement
I missed running club on Sunday morning. A combination of staying up too late on Saturday (I got sucked into a good book!) and having some unclear plans made for Sunday made it easy for me to turn off my alarm. Although, later in the day I was pretty bummed to not have gotten my long run in.
I finally decided that I would try to recoup my losses on Monday evening. I could wait until it was cooler to start, and then if it got too dark I could finish at the gym. Turns out the weather was great, and I had a lot of heavy stuff on my mind, so a good, long run really fit the bill.
Just over 10 miles later, I was home, sweaty and sore. And so glad to have gotten my long run in for the week.
I ate 3 popsicles.
I kept a really good pace (for me) considering the neighborhoods are quite hilly where I live. However, I did take a couple of untimed water breaks where I walked and stretched a bit.
- Mile 1 - 9:11
- Mile 2 - 8:49
- Mile 3 - 8:58
- Mile 4 - 9:06
- Mile 5 - 9:22
- Mile 6 - 9:36
- Mile 7 - 9:19
- Mile 8 - 9:37
- Mile 9 - 8:57
- Mile 10 - 9:21
I am pretty hard on myself if I miss a workout. Especially a long run, since they are so difficult to make up. Hopefully I'll remember that missing Sunday morning running club isn't the demise of my training. I actually really enjoyed a nice, long weeknight run. And I slept quite well, too!
