Wedding Wednesday – Photography
I am so, SO excited about today's post!! Not only have we checked a big item off of our (imaginary) to-do list, but I've also got pictures to share!
That's right, we've booked our photographer(s)!! Our photographer friend from highschool, Jill McNamara, lives in Phoenix but was in town for a family reunion. When we heard that she was booking photoshoots in Omaha, I quickly snatched one up. Katie and I have been talking about getting professional photos done for years...but we never quite knew where to go. We just knew we didn't want the posed family photos that you might get done at Target or JCPenny. Jill does documentary style photoshoots, and I have been drooling over her work on http://jillmcnamara.com/ and http://jillandjill.com/. I feel so lucky to have had her take some pictures for us!
We asked Jill to come with us to our favorite trail, the Wabash Trace in Council Bluffs. We have matching vintage cruiser bikes, so we thought they'd be fun for the photos. Plus there are lots of pretty trees, fields, and horses nearby.
Even though it was super hot and humid, and the mosquitoes (and TICKS!) were out with a vengeance, we had such a great time. I knew the pictures would be amazing before I even saw them. In fact, right after the shoot, I asked Jill if we could hire her to shoot our wedding. And even though she lives in Arizona, she said yes!
Jill's husband, Michael McNamara, is also a photographer. And when they shoot weddings, they do them together. I am so excited to have TWO photographers for our big day! Not only does this mean we'll get shots from different angles, but we'll be able to have photographers in 2 places at once...like when Kate and I are getting ready seperately. Yay! I think it will be so neat to see photos of each other in those moments right before the ceremony.
Ok, back to the photoshoot. You might call these engagement photos...since we are engaged and all...but I kind of have a chip on my shoulder about that. You see, I had already publicly declared that we would NOT be having engagement photos taken because they were just another way to rack up the costs of a wedding. However, now that I have them, I don't care! Call them what you will, but you will never be able to rip them from my bony little fingers! They are mine, and I love them!!
Ok, ok, now for the good stuff. Want to see some pictures?!?!
These are just some of my favorites. You can check out the rest on Jill's blog, http://jillmcnamara.com/?p=714. Go tell her how amazing she is!

Such cute pics! I love the bikes. “Engagement” pics are just fun to have and get some of the jitters of constantly having a camera on you out of the way before the wedding. I was much more comfortable with our photographer at the wedding bc of the engagement shoot experience.
