Sunday Run at the Lake
I ended up staying out late with work friends on Saturday night, which led to sleeping through running club on Sunday morning. I was a little bummed, especially since I thought I had a pretty good plan when I left my house:
- lay out all of my running gear before heading out
- wear flats, so as not to tire my legs/feet
- have 2 drinks with a seltzer in between
- head home at 11:00
What ended up happening:
- laid out some of my running gear before heading out
- wore flats but was forced to park REALLY far away
- had 3 drinks and lots of water
- headed home at 1:00am
Woops. However, I had a really good time and was happy to hang out with my coworkers in a social setting - which rarely happens.
But missing running club didn't mean missing my run completely. We had a family BBQ planned at a lakeside park last night, so I showed up early to log some miles. I ended up getting in 8 miles before dinner and an additional 3 after. Not ideal for a long run, but I'm still glad to have gotten it done.
The run was hot, but there was intermitent shade and a light breeze, which was nice. Plus, I got some nice views of the lake!
Kate ran the last 3 miles with me, and chatting with her made them fly by.
I tried running with this fuel belt, but I couldn't get it to sit quite right.
It was more comfortable on my hips, but it kept riding up and then bouncing around. If I tightened it on my waist, my elbows would brush the bottles. I ended up taking 2 bottles off and wearing it around my waist. I eventually forgot about it, but I'll need some more practice. However, having liquids with me was definitely worth it.
Do you run with a fuel belt? Any advice? I'm thinking of trying a Camelbak instead, but I don't really want to spend the $$ if I can get this belt to work.
