Quiet

I like quiet. I need alone time. Don't get me wrong, I love being with my family and friends, too. But I cherish quiet moments where I can just be.

This afternoon, I got one. I was prepping snacks for the football game tonight (Go Big Red!) while the rest of the family napped on the couch.

No radio. No TV. And the sunlight was just right, so I didn't even need the lights turned on. It was just me and the sound of chopping veggies - one of my most favorite activities. I suppose it was a perfect calm before the "storm" of a football party. :)

My parents are making chili for the game, so I offered to bring some snacky food. I decided on a couple kinds of pickles and a homemade swiss cheese dip served with crackers and crunchy celery sticks.

You can tell I love my family a lot because I took the time to de-string 2 whole bunches of celery for them. ;) But seriously, this makes celery SO much better. I just use a vegetable peeler.

Do you need alone time? I swear Kate could go the rest of her life without a quiet moment. She is way more social than I am!
