The Big 2-0 is in the Books!

No, I didn't turn 20. Well, not recently...more than 9 years ago, in fact. (gulp) The 20 I'm talking about is my first 20 mile run of the season. Woot!

I really had the perfect day for it. It was in the low 50s to start, and warmed up just a bit over the course of the run. We were at my favorite trail, and 2 of my running buddies were also tackling 20, so I had company the whole time. And although I was definitely starting to feel it near the end, it was kind of...awesome.

So why am I so hesitant to register for this dang marathon?!

I told myself if this 20-miler went well that I'd register. But I still haven't bitten the bullet. It's not the money holding me back ($99) or even the travel (3 hour drive.) I think I'm still worried that I won't be able to do it. Or do it well. Or without getting injured.

But I know I'll regret not doing it. Especially since I'm already so far into the training. Why else would I get up at the crack of dawn to run 20 miles if I weren't training for a marathon, right?!

Ugh. I think I'll give it another week. Maybe you have some advice for me?

  1. Don’t worry about finishing! Just sign up – - do your best – - and celebrate!! Send us details and we’ll be there with signs!!

  2. You should do it! If you can already run 20 miles you can finish!
    Kelly recently posted..soccer snack

  3. I know you can tackle that marathon, that’s not what’s on my mind. The first 20 of the year; you would have hit that eventually. What I am concerned about is the 2039 kcal that you burnt durning that run! That’s a lot of veggies!
