Wedding Wednesday – Something Sappy

I love Katie. Like, really really love her.

When I step back and think about our life, I get a little giddy about how wonderful it is. And I feel so lucky to have someone by my side. Someone that loves me so, so much. Someone that would do anything for me. And someone who wants to make our life together be the best that it can be.

Katie is really perfect for me. We are so comfortable together, yet she can still give me butterflies. She appreciates me for who I am, yet challenges me to grow.

I'm excited to marry her. I'm not scared in the least. There is not one single doubt in my mind. And for a girl that likes to over analyze every situation, this tells me that we are a perfect match. I know better than to think that perfect means smiles and giggles at all times. No, perfect means that when we fight, we both take something away from it. We become better communicators and forgivers. We learn to step back and let the little things slide. We remind ourselves to take care of what can be damaged and to drop our guards around what is true through and through.

We say "I love you" every night so it is the last thing we hear before we sleep. We kiss each other on the cheek every morning, because we want that to be how we part each day. We leave notes for one another so there is always evidence of our love in case we are feeling lonely. We hold hands. We talk about our future. We give each other thoughtful gifts. And we spend time together.

We are a "we" that I'm so proud of. We compliment each other really well and balance each other out. We are fun. We are cute. We are exactly what I'd hope for.

I guess I just feel lucky. Lucky to have fallen in love with someone that is so kind, so giving, so smart...and who loves me so much. Lucky to have found the courage and strength to make this relationship work, when it would have been easy to let adversity stop us. Lucky to have family and friends who love, support, and respect us. And lucky to be marrying my best friend in just 7 short months.
