A Few Exciting Things

I don't know about you, but I think 2012 is starting out wonderfully! The weather here has been ca-razy for a Midwestern winter. It has been very mild and warm...we even hit a record high last week! In addition, some other little exciting things have been keeping me happy.

• I won a Vitamix!!! The other day I started following @recipage on Twitter after I heard they were going to give away a Vitamix to one of their followers. I didn't really think I'd win!! I'm pretty sure this is the biggest prize I've ever won. A Vitamix is one of those things I always thought would be awesome to own but would never in a million years shell out the money for. They're like $500! I think our current blender is a $15 Kmart version that I've been limping along since college. The lid is broken and I'm too cheap to replace it. The Vitamix will be a welcome addition to our kitchen.

• I've been running! All of a sudden I decided to hit up the gym for some treadmill runs instead of complaining about it being too dark when I get off work. And the weekends have been so nice that I've visited some of my favorite trails. Nothing too fast or far yet, but it sure feels good to get out there and move. Since I'm registered for the Lincoln Marathon in May, now is a good time to start building up that base!
• I tried Body Pump! My gym (24 Hour Fitness) recently started offering Body Pump. Strength training is something that has been lingering on my to-do list for a while now, so I thought this class would be a good way to start. I've only been twice, but I don't think it's too soon to say that I love it! It might not be for everyone, but it's definitely a good way for me (someone who is not very strong at all) to build some muscle. Plus, the classes are fun and not intimidating at all!
• We are wedding planning!! Wedding conversation has been flowing like crazy around here! I asked my mom to help me tackle a few things, and we've been going, going, going ever since. Kate helped me turn our basement into "Wedding Central", and save-the-dates are going out this week! (I'll do a post about how we DIYed them after they've been sent.)
