Lizz Day #1

If you recall from my 2012 goals, I have set out to have one extravagant "this is my ideal Lizz" day per month. Well, Sunday was that day for January!

I did 3 things to help me branch out & be the girl I want to be:

1. I wore lipstick. (Ok, it was lip gloss. But it was fuchsia.)
2. I went thrifting for clothes.
3. I took photos of myself. (Using my new tripod, a Christmas gift from Kate.)

My hair was dirty, so I tied it up in a bun. And I put on some lipstick. I never thought I could pull off that "sure, I just rolled out of bed but I'm still inexplicably adorable" look. Turns out lipstick is the trick. And a little confidence.

I haven't been thrifting for clothes in a long time. I used to be so, so good at this. I could find the needle in the haystack, the diamond in the rough. I have patience and diligence, and I try things on. I think this is what makes me good at thrifting. But lately, I've kind of felt like I can't pull off that vintage-y style like I used to. I wanted to prove myself wrong.

And I think I did just that. I found a Bonwit Teller coat that just screamed to me.

It is in mint condition, save a missing button near the collar. It's so well-made and structurally sound - unlike anything you can find where I shop nowadays (ie Target.) Can we just swoon over this coat for a minute?!

I love the cropped sleeves. And the tiny Peter Pan-ish collar. I don't have a camel colored coat, so this is just perfect for me. Ah, so cute! I'm sure it'll look great with jeans, too.

The picture-taking thing is kind of new (you might remember another one of my 2012 goals is to learn to use my camera.) I like to take pictures, but that means I am rarely in them. And when I do ask someone to take one of me, I only get 1 or 2 before I feel like I'm being annoying.

I guess I just want some good pictures of myself. Fun, cute, pretty, artsy, cool, whatever. So I became the crazy neighbor girl prancing around her backyard with a tripod, telling her dogs to "get out of the shot", posing for seemingly no one. And you know what? It was fun! And I really like some of the pictures I got of me in my new coat.

So now I'm going to unapologetically share my photos with you. This is what I wore on Lizz Day #1 + my new coat. You'll notice the price tag still dangling off my left shoulder. That's just how I roll.
