2012 Mud, Sweat, & Beers Trail Run
Kate and I joined our friends, Brian & Jocelyn, at a trail race this weekend. The name gives you a good feel for the atmosphere...Mud, Sweat, and Beers! It was a fun, dirty, costume-encouraged, 21+ event.
I've never run in a costume before and decided the time had come. I dug out my banana costume from last Halloween, and Kate donned a (faux) coonskin cap and flannel cut-off. Hot.
And I'm proud to say that we went the whole 4.3 miles (7K) in costume, creek-crossings and all! Twas a bit muddy.
But the fun didn't stop at the finish line. The race was at 5pm, so they held a cookout afterwards. We were encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a few bucks for dinner. We hung out outside, enjoying live music and drinking beers with our friends.
I decided to break the challenge rules for this event. We were not allowed to bring our own food, and they had veggie burgers available, so I ate dinner there and enjoyed a couple of beers.
I also had a beer sample at the beer/water stop in the middle of the run. Oh, and a sugar cookie.
I was pretty stressed about wedding stuff this weekend, so it was really nice to do something just for fun. Although I fretted extra hard on Sunday to make up for it...

I say self-imposed rules are made to be broken – - especially if with friends after having a “fun run”! You go, girl!
