Packing for Our Honeymoon – Part 2 (Kate)
After I wrote Part 1 of our honeymoon packing posts, two wonderful things happened:
- Kate asked me to make a style board for her and
- I discovered the wonder that is Polyvore.
I was fairly certain that I wouldn't be able to find a style board that was already created to fulfill Kate's needs. After a little searching, I had only turned up weekend getaway type ideas. Nothing for a week or multi-week trip. But while I was searching, I finally discovered how people create those awesome style boards to begin with. Turns out they don't have to lay everything out on a perfectly white floor and take a photo from 10 feet above...Nope, they use Polyvore.
Polyvore is a tool that you can use to put together outfits, wardrobes, and collections of apparel. They have a huge database of clothing, accessories, and shoes to choose from, and you can search by style, color, designer, and store, etc. Then you just drag and drop what you like onto your board. Boards are stored by user, so you are able to follow and 'like' people, just as you can on Pinterest.
I decided to give it a shot and quickly became a big fan. I spent way too long messing around with it last night, but I came up with a vacation board for Kate that I'm pretty proud of. It doesn't contain everything she'll need (things like swimsuits, work out clothes, etc were left off), but I think it gives a great idea of items to include in order to mix and match efficiently. I'm kind of in love.
