August Favorites

Here are a few of the things I've been loving this month.

Peanut Butter

Almond, cashew, and sunflower seed butter have all been popular in my house, but recently I've been craving good ol' peanut butter. The chunky kind.

Lilac Nail Polish

I've seen lots of blue nails lately, but that's a bit out there for me. This lilac color is fun yet demure enough to be worn confidently at the office. I'm loving it.

Lululemon Turbo Run Shorts

I purchased my first shorts from Lululemon at the grand opening of their Village Pointe store earlier this month. I don't know if I could have stomached the prices had I not had a gift card, but I really love the shorts I ended up with. They feel really nice on, aren't too short, have a zipper pocket in the back and 2 gel pockets in the front, yet they are far from bulky. In fact, the fact that they don't billow out is my favorite thing about them. Who knew running shorts could be flattering?!

Wild by Cheryl Strayed

I'm really into this book and am almost finished. It makes me want to go on a backpacking trip, which is saying a lot from a girl who always likes to smell good and sleep in her own bed. This book is a memoir about Cheryl's 3 month journey hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. The trip itself is intriguing, and she segues into stories from her life seamlessly. It's very real with just the right amount of raw.

Having My Brother Home

My brother retired from the Navy and moved back to Omaha this spring. However, with all of the wedding craziness (he, his wife, and my mom catered our wedding) and traveling for our honeymoon, I hadn't gotten to spend much good quality time with him yet. This month has been different, and we've been able to go to dinner together, grab drinks, go on bike rides, and sit around chatting over coffee. It's good to have him home.

  1. I bought a pair of those shorts too. And I couldn’t believe the price. But I’m a believer now. I’ve never run in anything more comfortable.

    And that book was fantastic!
