So our new front door has been installed and is working well, but it still needs to be painted. We were going to have it custom painted before it was installed, but the initial $190 quote somehow turned into $500 when all was said and done, and that was just too much for me to stomach. Honestly I'm terrified to do it ourselves, but the paint sprayer that we borrowed should hopefully give us good results. Once we decide on a color.

Our house is a medium grey with white trim. Originally Kate & I both loved the idea of a bright yellow door, but once we got home with paint swatches, I hated it with against the rust-colored porch.

Unless we paint the porch, I say yellow is out. I'm thinking black, charcoal grey, or maybe even blue, instead.

But if we're willing to change the color of the porch (it needs to be painted anyway), I think a bright yellow door + dark grey or black floors would look good. Although I think a cool, bright blue might look nice, too.

If we paint the porch, we'd also paint the stairs, railings, and the brick next to the stairs. At first I thought this might be weird since the foundation brick is that red color as well, but I think it'd work.

This is tough! Which combination do you like? And what color do we paint the inside of the door? Do we just leave it white? Help!
